How Much Does It Cost to Share a Private Jet?

Charter prices move with fuel, season, and aircraft availability, but the structure is predictable. Here's what to expect when sharing a private jet, broken down by what actually drives the bill.

Start with the all-in charter price

Operators quote a single all-in price that already includes the aircraft, two pilots, fuel, insurance, FBO handling, and federal excise tax. Typical 2026 ranges in the US:

    • Light jet (4–6 seats), 2-hour flight: $14,000–$22,000 all-in.
    • Midsize jet (6–8 seats), 3-hour flight: $22,000–$35,000 all-in.
    • Super-midsize (8–9 seats), 4-hour transcon: $35,000–$55,000 all-in.
    • Heavy jet (10–14 seats), 6-hour transatlantic: $80,000–$140,000 all-in.

    Now divide by the group

Your share is simply the all-in charter price divided by the number of travellers sharing the aircraft. A $24,000 midsize jet split four ways is $6,000 per traveller. Split eight ways it's $3,000 — competitive with a fully-flexible business-class ticket on the same route.

    What changes your share

    • Group size — biggest single lever. Doubling the group roughly halves each traveller's share.
    • Date flexibility — flying Tuesday is cheaper than flying Friday.
    • Repositioning — if the aircraft is already where you need it, the price drops; if it has to fly in empty, the group pays for that leg too.
    • Peak events — Super Bowl, Davos, Cannes weekend can double the standard rate.

    What's not included

Even all-in quotes typically exclude ground transport, in-flight catering beyond a basic snack/drink setup, de-icing in winter, and overnight crew costs on multi-day trips. Budget another 2–5%.

    Platform fees

JetMatch charges a small subscription to access matching — we don't take a percentage of the charter and we don't mark up the operator's quote. The price you see from the operator is the price you split with your co-passengers.

JetMatch is a technology platform that introduces travellers who want to share the cost of a private flight. We do not own, operate, charter, or sell air transportation. All flights are arranged with, and operated by, independent certified air carriers selected by the travellers themselves.
